Portofino: small bay and heaven for the rich and famous

Maybe you remember a certain scene from The Bold and the Beautiful or you saw pictures on the internet from the rich and famous arriving by boat at Portofino?

I had the chance to visit Portofino a couple of years ago and since then I try to return every year.

We stayed at the Domina Home Piccolo Hotel, which is really a very nice and cosy hotel. It felt like being at home far away from home.

Although you might think Portofino has nothing to offer - because it really is a small village - you might end up a little surprised. Portofino has some fine restaurants where they offer exquisite food. It also has luxury boutiques such as Gucci, Dior, Pucci, Louis Vuitton ... and of course magnificent diamond shops.

For culture lovers: don't forget to pay a visit to Portofino's castle, which is called Castello Brown. It's a house museum located high above the harbour.

For those traveling by car: the center of Portofino is a restricted traffic zone. Transit and parking permits are granted only to residents and authorized persons.
But here 's a 24-hour car park available just upon entering the villlage at Piazza Martiri della Liberta. Note that the parkingcosts might seem quite expensive to some people.
