Camargue: wild white horses at the beach
I have been to the Camargue for more than 30 years.
The Camargue is a nice piece of nature in the South of France.
It's known for its wild animals such as horses, flamingo's, birds, ... They run free in nature parks and the view is so beautiful.
You can find out more about it on the website of Les- Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
There's even some equestrian lodging for horse lovers.
The Camargue horse is characterised by its small size, its unrefined skeleton, large limbs, big head, and grey (almost white) coat when it is fully grown. However, the foal has a dark coat when it is born. It is only when the horse is 4 or 5 years old that its coat turns to white.
At the age of three, they are corralled and trained. This is not an easy operation because the "guardians" (cowboys) have to be patient and gain progressively the horses' confidence.
Yes folks... We have cowboys in Europe too.
